Pirates

Hayden brought his pirate costume to school.

First he put on the pirate pants.
Then he put on his pirate singlet.
Next he put on his big black boots.
After that he put on his fiery belt and his black hat.
Then he put on his pirate scarf.
Next he put on his pirate ear-ring and his black eye patch.
Finally he got his sharp hook and cutlass.
Arghh!
Hayden is a pirate!

Good use of sequence words kaya :)

Remember to get your pirate costumes ready for next Friday (April 8th).
Come to school in uniform, then change at lunchtime.

Cross Country

 Room 13 champions:
Congratulations to Hayden Murtic and Haylee-Jayde Montgomerie who each came second in the Year 2 Cross country race. Also well done to Marlene Paea who came third.

Here are 2 of our stories:

On Tuesday we did a cross country race.
My shoes were all  muddy, but I kept running.
I came 10th. I did good. I ran as fast as I could.
I didn't stop running. I didn't walk, because I wanted to win.
Lyric
Good on you, Lyric!

On Tuesday morning we went to do the cross country race.
All of the Everglade children went to do it.
I jumped on the stepping stones. The grass was slippery and muddy and I felt thirsty and tired. My heart was pumping fast.
It was hard.
Some people were winning already and I was still running.
I finished. That was a lot of fun!
I wish we can go again.
Lisa

Great trying, Lisa!

Family Fun Day

On Saturday I went to the Family Fun Day with my sister and her friends.
When we got there we went on the tea cups ride. It made me dizzy.
After that I bought an ice cream because I was hot.
We watched people dunking the Principal.
At the end of the day we felt really tired.
I loved Family Fun Day.
Marlene

On Saturday morning I went with my Nana and my Papa to the Family Fun Day.
I went on the cups that move around. When I got out I couldn’t walk properly, but it was cool fun!
George

On Saturday I went with my Mum to Everglade’s Family Fun Day.
First I went on the giant slide!
I felt very hot when I was climbing up.
I went on the small slide and I was waving my legs.
The Family Fun Day was fun.
Ashwin

My friends told me all about the crazy Fun Day.
I didn’t go to it, but it looked exciting!
I wish I could have dunked the Principal, but I was at my brother’s place.
What a shame!

Japan earthquake

Another big earthquake!
In Japan there was an earthquake and a tsunami. There was a major fire too.
Heaps of cars were in the water.
More than 1000 people died. It is really sad that heaps of people had to die.
Marlene
In Japan there was an enormous earthquake under the sea. It made a humungous wave.
The people’s houses were washed away and they had nowhere to live. They had to stay in the cold. Some went to schools where they were safe.
Kaya

In Japan there was a tsunami and earthquake. It was sad because lots of people died.
A warning siren went to tell people to go to high places. The tsunami did the most damage.

Christchurch earthquake

In Christchurch there was an earthquake.
People are very worried about their families.
The big buildings were badly damaged.
Everything was squashed because of the rocks.
They feel pain because their town was destroyed.
Marlene

In Christchurch there was an earthquake. A fire started.
Fire fighters have been trying to get it out, but they need more fire fighters to come.
More than 100 people are dead. They are sad because they worry about their children.

In Christchurch there was an earthquake. It was a big one and people died.
When they wanted to go out of Christchurch, they felt confused because they didn’t know which way to go, It was very sad.
George

We all wore red and black, the Canterbury colours to show that we are thinking about the people in Christchurch. We gave them some money too and we got nearly $3000 from the whole school!
How great is that!
Well done Everglade!
